The Importance of Student Financial Aid Schemes for Social Equity, Recruitment to Higher Education, and Settlement Patterns
This report was commissioned by a government-appointed committee tasked with reviewing the current system of student financial support and providing recommendations on how future student support schemes should be designed.
Means-testing of student grants against students’ income and assets
Student grants from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen) are means-tested against students’ income and assets. If students have income or assets above specified thresholds, the grant is reduced, even if students complete their studies. This report examines the characteristics of students with income or assets above the thresholds.
Salmon price in the period of October 19th – October 25th
In the period of October 19th – October 25th the export price of fresh salmon came to NOK 76.04 per kilo, up 2.7 per cent compared to the previous seven-day period.
Sickness Absence and Earnings
Under Norway’s National Insurance Scheme, sickness benefits are calculated on earnings up to six times the National Insurance basic amount (6G). In 2025, 6G averaged NOK 768,696 over the year. Employers normally pay sickness benefits during the first 16 calendar days of a sickness absence spell.
