Continued growth in retail sales

The seasonally-adjusted volume index of retail sales showed an increase of 0.5 per cent from January to February 2013. This followed a growth from December to January of 1 per cent.

Sales of sports equipment contributed most to the increase from January to February. The volume index for sales of food and beverages in specialised stores also showed an increase. Sales in grocery stores are on the same level as the previous three months, according to seasonally-adjusted figures for sales volume.
