Positive signals from manufacturing

Norwegian industrial managers report a small production increase in the third quarter of 2017, with the expectation of increased production and new orders in the fourth quarter. The general expectations for the fourth quarter of 2017 are also positive among most of the industry leaders.

Fewer voyages with pilot on board

The traditional pilot may become a rarer sight on ships along the Norwegian coast if the trend of recent years continues. In 2016, almost 39 000 voyages were carried out with an on-board pilot in Norwegian waters; a decrease of 7 per cent from the previous year.

Increase in trade surplus

Exports totalled NOK 63.9 billion in September, 11 per cent more than in the same month in 2016. Imports were approximately unchanged from September last year and contributed to a trade surplus of NOK 9.2 billion.
