Name Licence for aquaculture
Definition A permission to farm fish, shellfish or molluscs in accordance to Norwegian legislation (Aquaculture Act). A permission gives the right for a certain type of production of a certain type of species in a certain extent at one or several stated localities.

Comments In the statistics from Statistics Norway only figures from these licences are given: fish for food, salmon and trout; fingerling, salmon and trout; fingerling, other species and shellfish and mollusc. Too 1998 Statistics Norway used the term unit. A unit in aquaculture was defined as a permission given for aquaqulture. See NOS Aquaculture 1998.
