Small increase in felled moose

A total of 36 400 moose were felled during the 2010/2011 hunting season; an increase of 400 animals from the previous year.

In total, a felling quota of 45 200 animals was issued, which is an increase of 800 animals from the previous year. The felling ratio came to 81 per cent, the same as in the three previous years.

Most moose felled in Hedmark

Hedmark is the largest "moose county" in terms of the number of licences and animals felled. A total of 9 200 hunting licences were issued and slightly more 8 000 animals were felled, resulting in a felling ratio of 87. In the counties of Nord-Trøndelag and Nordland¹, 4 880 and 3 348¹ moose were felled respectively.

Number of moose hunters

Among the cervid species, moose hunting is the most common. A total of 60 000 hunters participated in the moose hunt during the hunting year of 2009/2010.
