Turnover almost NOK 450 billion

The total turnover in retail sales was NOK 447 billion in 2014, which corresponds to a growth of more than NOK 14 billion or 3.4 per cent compared to 2013.

By comparison, the Index of retail sales showed an increase of 3.3 per cent during the same period. Grocery stores had a turnover of almost NOK 160 billion in 2014; a growth of 4.4 per cent from the year before. The turnover in grocery stores made up 36 per cent of the total retail trade last year.

The highest growth in turnover was seen in specialised stores selling a variety of hardware, paints and glass stores, and in Internet stores. The hardware stores had a turnover of more than NOK 23 billion in 2014; a growth of 6.1 per cent compared to 2014. The Internet stores had the highest increase this year; 16.8 per cent up from 2013, and had a total turnover of NOK 14 billion in 2014.

In November and December 2014 (the sixth period), the turnover in retail sales was almost NOK 86 billion; a growth of NOK 2.7 billion, or 3.2 per cent compared with the same period in 2013.

Trade and repair of motor vehicles increased

The total sales and repair of motor vehicles increased by NOK 9 billion in 2014 compared to 2013; a growth of 4.5 per cent.

In November and December 2014, the sales and repair of motor vehicles increased by NOK 1.6 billion from the year before. This corresponds to an increase of 4.9 per cent.

Wholesale for NOK 856 billion

The turnover in wholesale was NOK 856 billion in 2014. This is an increase of NOK 36 billion or 4.4 per cent1 compared to 2013.

In November and December 2014, the turnover in wholesale was NOK 8.7 billion or 6.1 per cent more than the same period in 2013.
