Continuous growth in sales of motor vehicles

After a substantial fall in 2008, trade and repair of motor vehicles has increased continuously. From the fourth quarter of last year to the first quarter of this year, the growth amounted to 3.2 per cent (seasonally adjusted).

The turnover of wholesale industries rose almost as much in the first quarter of 2012. These industries, however, have had a considerably smaller increase in turnover than the industries in trade and repair of motor vehicles during the past three years. The turnover of wholesale industries went up by 15.5 per cent, while trade and repair of motor vehicles grew by 36.4 per cent in the course of the last three years.

The preliminary figures for NACE 45 and 46 are published as quarterly indices of value, and at two-digit sector level only. The next publication, on 26 June, will contain bimonthly figures at a more detailed level and will be published in NOK. See also bimonthly figures under “ Previous articles ”.
