Turnover of NOK 82.5 billion for cars and light motor vehicles

Enterprises engaged in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles in 2010 had a combined turnover of NOK 170.2 billion. Of this, NOK 82.5 billion, or 48 per cent, came from trade services of cars and light motor vehicles.

Sale of motor vehicles amounted to NOK 106 billion in 2010. Of this, NOK 82.5 billion came from trade services of cars and light motor vehicles, while NOK 23.5 billion came from trade services of other motor vehicles. Enterprises within the industry group Sale of motor vehicles accounted for 73 per cent of motor vehicle sales, while enterprises within the industry group Maintenance and repair of motor vehicles accounted for 27 per cent. Thus, sales of motor vehicles accounted for 54 per cent of turnover in the latter industry group, while maintenance and repair services of motor vehicles accounted for 35 per cent.

The reason for this is that it is normal for enterprises to have a combination of workshops for repair of motor vehicles and stores for retail sales of motor vehicles. When enterprises have more than one activity, the industry code is determined by value added, employment and turnover in the various activities in the enterprise.

Turnover of NOK 31.5 billion for parts and accessories

Sale of parts and accessories amounted to NOK 31.5 billion. Enterprises within the industry group Sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories accounted for 63 per cent, or NOK 19.7 billion, of this.

Retail trade services of motorcycles and related parts and accessories amounted to NOK 2.2 billion, while wholesale trade services amounted to NOK 0.6 billion. Of this, enterprises within the industry group Sale , maintenance and repair of motorcycles and related parts and accessories accounted for 65 per cent, or NOK 1.8 billion. Maintenance and repair services of motorcycles amounted to NOK 0.1 billion, where enterprises in the aforementioned industry group accounted for 92 per cent.

Turnover of NOK 25.6 billion for maintenance and repair services of motor vehicles

Maintenance and repair services of motor vehicles amounted to NOK 25.6 billion. Enterprises within the industry group Maintenance and repair of motor vehicles accounted for 73 per cent of this, while enterprises within the industry group Sale of motor vehicles accounted for 26 per cent.
