Decline in alcohol sales

Registered turnover of alcoholic beverages was lower in the first half of this year compared with the same period last year.

Registered turnover of wine, beer and spirits decreased by 2.9, 2.0 and 0.9 per cent respectively compared with the first half of last year.

In litres, the turnover of beer decreased by 2.5 million litres, wine by 1.1 million litres and spirits by 44 000 litres from the first half of 2014 to the first half of 2015.

In total, registered turnover was made up of 114.5 million litres of beer, 35.6 million litres of wine, 4.8 million litres of spirits and 6.7 million litres of alcopops for the first half of 2015.

Decline in amount of pure alcohol.

Total registered turnover of pure alcohol was down 243 000 litres or 2 per cent in the first half of this year compared to the first half of last year.

The total turnover breaks down to 5.2 million litres of pure alcohol for beer, 4.4 million litres of pure alcohol for wine, 1.9 million litres of pure alcohol for spirits and 301 000 litres of pure alcohol for alcopops.

Registered turnover in Norway in the first half of 2015 totalled 2.78 litres of pure alcohol per capita. This is down 0.09 litres or 3.3 per cent compared to the first half of 2014.
