Drop in spirit sales

The registered turnover of spirits was 11.5 million litres in 2013; a decrease of almost 70 thousand litres, or 0.6 per cent from 2012. Beer, wine and Alcopops however, had an increase in registered litres.

Registered sales of beer increased by 3.2 million litres, sales of wine 1.7 million litres and Alcopops by 597 thousand litres. This represents an increase of 1.3, 2.3 and 4.8 per cent respectively. Turnover in litres for the three alcohol groups in 2013 was 245.2 million, 76.6 million and 13.0 million respectively.

Alcohol litres per capita at the same level

Registered turnover in Norway in 2013 was 6.22 litres of pure alcohol per capita. The corresponding figure in 2012 was 6.21 litres.

Total registered turnover of pure alcohol was 25.6 million litres in 2013. This breaks down into 11.1 million litres of beer, 9.5 million litres of wine, 4.5 million litres of spirits and 0.6 million litres of Alcopops.
