Decrease in traffic on international ferries

A total of 2.1 million passengers travelled with international ferries in the 3rd quarter of 2013. This was a decrease of almost 30 000 passengers compared to the same quarter in 2013.

A new ferry route started up from Bergen to Hirtshals in the third quarter of 2013. The ports that were affected by the new route had an increase in traffic, including Grenland (Langesund). The transport of cars, motorcycles and accompanying trailers/caravans was unchanged in the 3rd quarter of 2013 compared to the 3rd quarter of 2012. The number of buses that were transported decreased by 500 in this period.

Increase in liquid bulk and containers

A total of 21.5 million tonnes of liquid bulk was handled in the 3rd quarter of 2013. This was an increase of 3.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2012. Bergen and Omland Port Authority had a decrease of 0.5 per cent in the period. In total, 193 000 TEU containers was transported in the 3rd quarter of 2013. A total of 128 300 containers were loaded, and the cargo in containers was 1.5 million tonnes.

Slight decrease in the transport of dry bulk

The transport of dry bulk had a slight decrease of 0.3 per cent in the 3rd quarter of 2013, compared to the same period in 2012. In total, 18.9 million tonnes of dry bulk was transported.

Coastal Express Liner had the majority of passengers in July

In total, 123 700 passengers travelled with the Coastal Express Liner in the 3rd quarter of 2013. Of these, 55 000 travelled in July. The amount of transported cars was 8 000 in the quarter.
