Taxi industry downshifts

The number of trips declined 1.1 per cent in the 2nd quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter in the previous year. The industry’s turnover was NOK 2.3 billion; a decrease of 1.6 per cent compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014.

In the reporting period, the total length driven by taxis was 152 million kilometres, 1.0 per cent more than in the 2nd quarter of 2014. A total of 82 million kilometres, 2.6 per cent more than in the same period in 2014, were driven with passengers. An average trip with passengers in the 2nd quarter of this year was 9.9 kilometres; an increase of 4.2 per cent compared to the corresponding quarter last year.

Turnover per trip declined from NOK 276.9 in the 2nd quarter of 2014 to NOK 275.6 in the 2nd quarter of 2015; a decrease of 0.5 per cent.
