Unemployment 3.7 per cent

There were 102 000 unemployed persons in Norway in November, corresponding to 3.7 per cent of the labour force.

The Labour Force Survey (LFS) shows that the seasonally-adjusted unemployment was 3.7 per cent of the labour force in November (average of October–December), unchanged from August (average of July–September).

The number of people registered as unemployed or on government initiatives to promote employment with the Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) decreased by 1 000 from August to November. This figure is also seasonally adjusted and based on a three-month average.

Small changes in number of employed persons

According to the LFS, the seasonally-adjusted number of employed persons increased by 17 000 from August to November – an increase that is about the size of the error margin. During 2014, there has been an increase in the seasonally-adjusted number of employed persons, with the LFS showing an increase of 31 000 from January to November.

The share of employed persons corresponded to 68.6 per cent of the population aged 15-74 years in November; up 0.2 percentage points from August and unchanged from January.
