Slight increase in external debt

Norway's external debt amounted to NOK 3 699 billion at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2012. This is an increase of NOK 29 billion from the previous quarter. All sectors experienced small changes in their gross external debt.

External debt by 1st quarter 2012 and 2nd quarter 2012 in  NOK billions

The external debt position shows the gross debt for the main institutional sectors, with the exception of direct investments, which is netted. Shares and other equity are not included in the statistics. Published figures for external debt are in accordance with the International Monetary Fund’s definition.

Revisions
