Increase in inward settlement flows
Inward bank settlement flows increased from the first quarter of 2016 to the second quarter of 2016.

Settlements from foreign countries to Norwegian bank accounts amounted to NOK 564 billion in the second quarter of 2016. This was an increase of 8.9 per cent, equivalent to NOK 46 billion from the first quarter of 2016.
Outgoing settlements showed a decrease of 0.2 per cent, or NOK 1 billion, from the first quarter of 2016. The total settlements sent from Norwegian non-financial enterprises and private persons to foreign countries reached NOK 581 billion.
Compared with the second quarter of 2015, incoming settlements increased by NOK 17 billion. This was an increase of 3.2 per cent. In the same period, outgoing settlements increased 4.8 per cent, going up by NOK 27 billion.
Increased settlements from EU countries except Nordic countries
The increase in the inward settlements was mainly due to an increase in transfers from EU countries except Nordic countries, which increased by NOK 34 billion, or 14.7 per cent, from the first quarter of 2016. The inward settlements from Nordic countries ended at NOK 200 billion in the second quarter of 2016; an increase of 2.3 per cent from the previous quarter.
Bank transfers from Norway to EU countries except Nordic countries increased by NOK 40 billion from the first quarter of 2016; up by 16.2 per cent.
Increased transfers to the mining and quarrying industry, and transport and storage
Enterprises within the mining and quarrying industry received NOK 67 billion from abroad in the second quarter of 2016. This was an increase of NOK 8 billion from the first quarter of 2016, equivalent to an increase of 14.4 per cent. Bank transfers to enterprises within transport and storage also increased, and received NOK 10 billion more than in the previous quarter.
Norwegian enterprises sent NOK 568 billion abroad in the second quarter of 2016, which was NOK 2 billion less than in the first quarter of 2016. In particular, enterprises within industry, and information and communication had a decrease in settlements to foreign countries, by NOK 10 billion and NOK 28 billion respectively.
