Rental income up 4.7 per cent in Oslo and Bærum

Statistics Norway is resuming publication of rent and area statistics for office space, which have not been published since July 1998. The rental income index for office space in Oslo and Bærum rose by 4.7 per cent from July 1999 to July 2000.

 The average

Since January 1997 the average annual rental income per m2 of office space has risen by 15.9 per cent in Oslo and Bærum. In Kristiansand, Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim and Tromsø the average rental income rose by 12.2 per cent during the same period. The rental income index for these towns rose by 3.7 per cent from July 1999 to July 2000.

Stabile share of office vacancies

The share of vacant office space in Oslo and Bærum has remained stabile at around 5 per cent in the period January 1997 to July last year. In Kristiansand, Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim and Tromsø the share of vacant office space has been around 2.5 per cent in the same period.

New rental income index for office space

Statistics Norway has replaced the statistics on average annual rental income per m2 with a rental income index. The index is semi-annual. The measurements are taken on 1 January and 1 July. Time series are calculated back to January 1997. Index figures for January 2001 will be published at the end of March.
