Monthly earnings up NOK 1 500

Average monthly earnings, excluding overtime payment, of full-time employees in personal service activities were NOK 37 900 as at 1 October 2013. This is an increase of NOK 1 500 or 4.1 per cent from 1 October 2013.

Personal service activities is a section of very diverse activities. It includes membership organisations, repair of computers, washing and dry-cleaning, hairdressing, and funerals.

Employees in membership organisations

Full-time employees in business, employers and professional organisations had average monthly earnings of NOK 56 500; a year-on-year increase of NOK 2 800, or 5.2 per cent.

Corresponding earnings for full-time employees in trade unions were NOK 49 700, up 4.6 per cent from the previous year.

Repair of computers

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in enterprises that repair computers and other electric and electronic household appliances were NOK 37 200, up NOK 1 700 or 4.8 per cent.

Other personal service activities

Full-time employees in washing and dry-cleaning of textile and fur products had average monthly earnings of NOK 31 600, up 3.3 per cent from the same period in the previous year. In contrast, employees in funeral parlours earned NOK 40 000, and hairdressers and beauticians earned NOK 27 100.

The statistics are based on information from a sample of personal service activities enterprises covering a total of 12 486 full-time employees and 3 974 part-time employees. The total number of employees that forms the basis for weighting is 34 400 in personal service activities, according to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments.
