Parents, number of children under the age of 18 and age of the youngest children are defined on the basis of information from the Population Register as of 1 January after the statistics year. Parents are defined as persons who are not themselves defined as children in the family (ie family reference person or his/hers partner) and registered in a family where there are also registered at least one child under the age of 18.

Employed persons with unspecified contractual/usual working hours are not identified as a separate category in the table, but are part of the 'Employed persons in total' group. Employed persons with unspecified contractual/usual working hours are not included in the denominator in the calculation of the percentage of employed persons on short part-time, long part-time, etc.
