As stated in the Principles for equal treatment of users in releasing statistics and analyses no external users have access to the statistics and analyses before they are published and accessible simultaneously for all users on ssb.no at 10 am .Prior to this, a minimum of three months' advance notice is given in the Statistics Release Calendar.

The data are included in the preliminary and final monthly statistics for external trade in commodities http://www.ssb.no/en/utenriksokonomi/statistikker/muh .

Customs' cleared consignment with a value of less than NOK 1 000 and certain kinds of commodity flows (according to UN's recommendations International Merchandise Trade Statistics: Consept and Definitions, 2010), are excluded from the statistics.

Administrative data obtained from TVINN, which is the Norwegian Customs' electronic information system for the exchange of customs declarations between businesses and Norwegian Customs.

Data from the Customs declaration system (TVINN) is transmitted electronically to Statistics Norway six days a week.

Information from customs declarations is subject to controls in TVINN. The statistical controls to check the estimated price, quantity and country were developed by the Customs in cooperation with Statistics Norway.

In SSB data is checked for extreme values and logical errors.
