4 640 200 inhabitants in Norway

By the turn of the year Norway was home to 4 640 200 persons. During 2005 the population increased by 33 900 persons or 0,7 per cent. The population grew with about 5000 more in 2005 than in 2004.

Change in publishing routines - figures for population by age and sex ready

Final figures for Norway's population will from now on be published in the middle of February. This is a bit sooner than in the past and is possible due to Statistics Norway's improved controlling system of the data.

This implies that figures for population by age and sex can be published now; more detailed statistics are going to be published 9. March.

This change of publishing routines implies that final figures for the population 1. January and the figures for the changes in the previous year and the changes in the last quarter of the previous year will be published in February.
