Population increased by 28 900

The number of resident persons in Norway made up 4 606 400 people by 1 January 2005. The population increased by 28 900 persons during 2004, or 0.6 per cent. The population grew by 25 200 persons the year before. Foreign citizens made up 4.6 per cent of the total population, 213 300 persons. Except the Nordic citizens, most residents were Iraqi, British and Somalian citizens.
