Norway's External Trade in Goods Report 24 June
This report provides an overview of Norway’s trade in goods with the rest of the world from 1866 to the present day. The analysis focuses on the goods that have been central to imports and exports over a period of 160 years. A previous report examined Norway’s most important trading partners during the same period. In addition to the importance of foreign trade as a topic in its own right, it is particularly appropriate to publish a report with historical material in a year when Statistics Norway marks its 150th anniversary.

Historical time series on external trade in goods have now been digitized and made available in a publicly accessible database – “The Statistics Bank”. This article provides a description of the statistical classifications that form the basis of the historical time series, which date back to the first half of the 19th century. Hopefully, these time series will be both useful and enjoyable for a wide range of users.
