Trade surplus down

Due to low export value of crude oil the trade surplus in September came to NOK 17 billion. This is the lowest surplus since the beginning of 2000.

In September the export value of crude oil was NOK 16.5 billion. The export of crude oil amounted to 74 billion barrels to an average price of NOK 222 a barrel. The combination of low quantity and low price resulted in a low export value.

Exports of traditional goods amounted to NOK 16.8 billion in September, somewhat higher than in August, but 12 per cent less than in September of last year. Imports of traditional goods were NOK 21.9 billion in September - the lowest value so far this year - excluding the vacation month of July. The import figures for September were 11.8 per cent lower than the ones for September of last year.

The trade surplus in September was 17 billion. The surplus for the previous months this year varied from 17.7 billion in March to 24.9 in January.
