Limited increase in traffic

The total production by rail comprised 2.9 billion passenger kilometers in 2007, an increase from 2006 of almost 3 per cent. The tonne-kilometres produced came to 3.5 billion in 2007, also around 3 per cent more than the year before.

Almost 57 million passengers travelled by railway on Norwegian territory in 2007, and more than 25 million tonnes of cargo were transported. While the number of passengers increased by 3 per cent in 2007, there was almost no change in the tonnes transported.
