From January till December 2025, there were 40.6 million guest nights at the Norwegian commercial accommodation establishments, according to the new figures from the accommodation statistics. Germany accounted for the largest share, with almost 2.6 million guest nights, followed by Sweden with 1.3 million guest nights. Netherlands, United Kingdom and Denmark accounted for 985 000, 977 000 and 896 000 guest nights respectively.

There was a substantial increase in the number of guest nights from these countries compared to 2024.

Additionally, the commercial accommodation establishments reported 1.2 million guest nights from Asia in 2025. That represents an increase of 30 per cent compared to last year.

Hotels accounted for the largest increase

The number of guest nights at the Norwegian commercial establishments increased by approximately 2 million from 2024 to 2025. The hotels contributed the most to this increase, with an increase from 1.4 million guest nights compared to last year. There was a total of 28 million hotel guest nights in 2025.

At camping sites, there were a total of 8.4 million guest nights, an increase of 456 000 from 2024, while the holiday dwellings and youth hostels reported 4 million guest nights in 2025.

Increase in Norwegian and foreign guest nights in December 2025

In December 2025, the Norwegian commercial accommodation establishments reported 2 million guest nights. This represents an increase of 5.1 per cent compared to same month last year.

There were approximately 1.3 million Norwegian guest nights in December, an increase of 3.7 per cent. Meanwhile, the number of foreign guest nights was approximately 700 000, an increase of 8 per cent compared to December last year.
