Strong month for hotels in major cities
There were almost 3.8 million guest nights at hotels in July, an increase of 9.1 percent compared to July last year. Of these, 2.3 million were Norwegian and 1.5 million were foreign guest nights.
The highest number of hotel guest nights occurred in the major cities. Oslo had the most guest nights, with 658 thousand, followed by Bergen with 356 thousand. These two cities accounted for more than a quarter of all hotel guest nights. In Oslo, foreign guest nights increased by 16 percent, while they rose by 40 percent in Bergen.
In Ullensaker, home to Oslo Airport Gardermoen, there were 133 thousand guest nights, an increase of 19 percent from July last year.
Increase in guest nights at camping sites, holiday dwellings and youth hostels
There were almost 2.9 million guest nights at the camping sites in July, a 9.8 percent increase from July last year. There were 156 thousand more Norwegian and 103 thousand more foreign guest nights.
At the holiday dwellings and youth hostels there were 637 thousand guest nights, a 5 percent increase from last year.
