New figures from the accommodation statistics show that there were 2.2 million guest nights at hotels in October. Nearly all counties saw an increase in foreign guest nights at the hotels. In addition to Vestland, Akershus, Nordland and Oslo contributed the most to the increase. Akershus recorded 15 000 more foreign guest nights, an increase of 40 per cent. Nordland and Oslo each had 5000 more guest nights, corresponding to increases of 20 and 2.7 per cent respectively. Troms, Svalbard and Innlandet, on the other hand, saw fewer foreign hotel guest nights.
Over 70 per cent increase in guest nights at hotels from China
Looking at the whole country, there were about 36 000 hotel guest nights from China. This was 15 000 more than in October last year, an increase of 71 percent. From the United Kingdom, there were almost 9000 more guest nights, while Sweden and Denmark together contributed with over 8000 additional guest nights. From Germany, however, there were slightly fewer guest nights than in the same month last year.
– Guest nights from China continue to grow. Compared to October 2019, before the pandemic, there was an increase of more than 30 per cent. Never have we recorded so many guest nights from China in the month of October, says Furu.
Most Chinese hotel guest nights were in Vestland, followed by Oslo.
