Decline in simple and minor larceny

During the first six months of 2001, 209 800 crimes were reported countrywide. This gives a decline of 4 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The statistics show a decline in economic offences, other offences for profit, and damage to property. Further the statistics show relatively stable figures concerning offences of violence.
