To ensure consistent time series, the figures have been revised back to 2020. This is the first year in which SSB used Elhub as a data source.
In the period 2020–2024, the error mainly affects electricity consumption in the following groups:
| 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electric power generation, transmission and distribution together with distribution of gas thorugh mains | -0.2 | -3.3 | -11.5 | -24.1 | -29.5 |
| Information and communication | 0.2 | 1.2 | 4.0 | 9.6 | 8.3 |
“Electric power generation, transmission and distribution together with distribution of gas through mains” belongs to the main group “Secondary industries”. While “Information and communication” is a sub-group of “Tertiary industries”. Hence, some consumption is transferred from “Secondary industries” to “Tertiary industries”.
Large recoding of metering points with five-digit industry codes within 84
In connection with the transition to the new industry classification standard, SN2025, many grid companies have recoded metering points with five-digit industry codes within Public Administration and Defence (industry division 84 in SN2007).
The recoding is distributed across many consumption groups, for example “Business services,” “Construction,” “Education,” “Health and social services,” and “Street and road lighting.”
The consumption of the metering points that have been recoded in the data of 2025 amounted to approximately 445 and 436 GWh in 2024 and 2025, respectively. No corrections have been made in the annual electricity statistics prior to 2025. This means that the relatively large decrease in electricity consumption for the “Public Administration and Defence” group from 2024 to 2025 must be considered with this recoding in mind.
