Business law largest activity in legal services

Business law firms had a turnover of NOK 4.2 billion in 2005. This accounted for 54.8 per cent of the total turnover in the legal industry.

Civil law accounted for NOK 1.6 billion or 22 per cent of the total turnover. Furthermore, labour law and criminal law accounted for NOK 456 and NOK 413 of the turnover respectively.

Provision of personnel becoming more common

The provision of personnel is becoming increasingly common, and the turnover for this group rose by 32.4 per cent from 2004 to 2005. The turnover for the group ”provision of personnel for office support except for computer services and telecommunication” was NOK 3.0 billion in 2005. This is equal to 30.4 per cent of the total turnover. Furthermore, the group “provision of personnel for industry and production” had a turnover of NOK 1.9 billion, accounting for 18.8 per sent of the total turnover in provision of personnel.

Accounting, bookkeeping and auditing services

In 2005, enterprises involved in accounting and bookkeeping represented 67 per cent of the turnover in their primary activity. Tax consultancy services and payroll services accounted for 11.8 per cent and 7.9 per sent of the total turnover within accounting and bookkeeping services

Enterprises in auditing services had a turnover of NOK 4.3 billion related to these services. Tax consultancy accounted for NOK 645 million or 11.1 per cent of the total turnover in 2005.

Market research and public opinion polling

For enterprises involved in market research and public opinion polling, quantitative ad-hoc services accounted for the largest part of the total turnover with 49.6 per cent. The turnover for this group was NOK 471 million. The turnover in quantitative regular surveys was NOK 263 million, or 27.7 per cent of the total.

In addition to the above-mentioned industries, the survey included the following sub-classes: business and management consulting services, architectural and engineering activities and related technical consultancy, and technical testing and analysis. The survey was also carried out in 2004, but due to changes in the questionnaire the data for 2004 are not fully comparable with the 2005 data.
