Imports up in April

Exports of goods came to NOK 66 billion and imports to NOK 36 billion in April. Thus the Norwegian trade surplus was NOK 30 billion, a decline of 11.1 per cent compared with April last year.

Detailed figures

Per May 16 2007, at 10 a.m., Statistics Norway's websites and Statbank are updated with figures for April 2007 and also the latest figures for January to March this year.

However, Table 3 "Trade with countries and regional groups of countries" which was published 16 May, was not right. A new version was published 18 May 2007 at 10:00 a.m.

The export value of crude oil, natural gas and condensates came to NOK 39.8 billion in April. The export value of crude oil alone came to NOK 23.9 billion, down 6.9 per cent from April 2006. The export value of natural gas and condensates amounted to NOK 14.6 and NOK 1.2 billion respectively.

The figures for the value of natural gas in the first quarter of 2007 have been adjusted upward by NOK 5.1 billion, due to a price adjustment from NOK 1.60 to NOK 1.83 per cubic metre.

The export value of goods excluding ships, oil platforms, crude oil, condensates and natural gas came to NOK 26.2 billion in April. This is an improvement of 15.1 per cent compared with the corresponding month in 2006.

Revised figures 2005 and final figures 2006

Final figures for 2005 and 2006 show a growth in both imports and exports. Total imports in 2006 came to NOK 411.7 billion. This is an increase of 15.1 per cent or NOK 54 billion. Corresponding figures for exports show total exports of 783 billion, an increase of NOK 114 billion or 17.1 per cent.

The export value of crude oil, natural gas and condensates came to NOK 473.6 billion in 2006. The export value of crude oil alone came to NOK 309.3 billion, up 6.8 per cent from 2005. Natural gas and condensates came to NOK 146.9 and NOK 17.5 billion respectively.
