Increased imports of goods

Imports of goods came to NOK 24.1 billion in November, an increase of 6.9 per cent compared with 22.6 billion November last year. The export value of crude oil, natural gas and condensates was 23.8 billion, whereas exports of traditional goods ended at 17.4 billion.

The trade surplus of 17.1 billion is 7.3 per cent down compared with November last year. Comparing January-November 2002 with 2003 gives a slight increase in the trade surplus - from NOK 176.3 billion to NOK 179.5 billion. Exports of crude oil went down from NOK 179.8 billion January-November 2002, to NOK 178 billion the same period of 2003, and traditional goods from NOK 184.4 to NOK 183.3 billion. Imports went up from NOK 247 to NOK 253.4 billion.

Electric current

Imports of electric current in January-November 2003 amounted to NOK 3.6 billion - 2.8 billion more than January-November 2002. Imports of metalliferous ores and scrap went up 35 per cent compared with November last year, from NOK 0.8 billion to 1.1 billion. Imports of chemicals increased by NOK 227 million, and iron and steel by NOK 196 million, compared with the corresponding month last year.

Seasonally adjusted figures

Seasonally adjusted figures for imports of goods in September to November this year increased by 3.2 per cent compared with figures for the three previous months. Similar figures for exports of crude oil, natural gas and condensates for the last three months show an increase of 1.4 per cent, and for traditional goods 6.2 per cent.
