Lower trade surplus

During the first half of 2002 the Norwegian surplus for merchandise came to NOK 104.1 billion, 18.1 billion less than last year. The main reason for the decline was lower export value of crude oil. In the meantime, the Norwegian exports to China increased by 70 per cent.

At the same time, the export volume of gas has increased by 40 per cent.

Exports of goods amounted to NOK 38.1 billion in June 2002 and 238.2 billion in the first half year, a decrease of 10.0 per cent compared with June 2001 and 11.0 per cent compared with the period from January to June last year.
