Increased exports from ocean transport

Norwegian enterprises engaged in ocean transport earned NOK 84.6 billion in exports in 2010; 10 per cent above that of 2009.

With NOK 84.6 billion in exports and NOK 46.9 billion in imports, ocean transport’s contribution to Norway’s balance of services was NOK 37.6 billion in 2010.

Goods transport dominate

Water transport of goods represents more than half of the export revenue earned by enterprises in the industry division of water transport. The NOK 53.2 billion in export revenues in 2010 is NOK 4.8 billion more than in 2009 but is still lower than in 2008.

Crew expenses

Since 2009, crew costs have been excluded from imports. More on this in About the statistics .

Other relevant statistics

The figures are included in the Balance of Payments . The data are collected through the survey for Structural Business Statistics on Transport and Storage and reflect the external trade in services from the Operating Survey for Water Transport .
