Turnover was NOK 7.4 billion in water transport

Turnover in local kind of activitity units (local KAUs) connected to water transport was 7.4 billion NOK in 2000. The total number of local KAUs was 612 which employed 9 380 persons. Gross investments were NOK 1.3 billion.

Total value added at factor cost was NOK 4.5 billion.

Turnover and employment

The industrial class Scheduled long distance inland transport in coastal waters had a turnover of NOK 2.0 billion and employed 2 496 persons. Tugs and supply vessels in Norwegian coastal waters employed 1 427 persons and had a turnover of NOK 2.0 billion.

Local KAUs within Inland ferry transport in public road connections had a turnover of NOK

1.8 billion and employed the largest number of persons, 3 547.

Gross investments

The local KAUs within scheduled long distance inland transport in coastal waters made the largest gross investments, with NOK 1 billion. The gross investments made by Tugs and supply vessels in Norwegian coastal waters were NOK 0,9 billion

Restructuring in the industry division

2000 was a year with a large degree of restructuring in water transport. Users should also know that the revision of industry codes in the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises have led to considerable changes for some of the industries. Subsequently, the figures for 2000 are not fully comparable to previously published figures for 1999
