Solid growth in air transport

Passenger air transport increased turnover by 18.4 per cent in the 3rd quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter in 2011. Freight air transport increased turnover by 13.4 per cent in the same period.

Water transport increased turnover by 9 per cent in the 3rd quarter compared to the same quarter in 2011.

Freight transport by road increased turnover by 4.1 per cent from the 3rd quarter in 2011 to the 3rd quarter in 2012.

Passenger rail transport increased a mere 1 per cent from the 3rd quarter in 2011, whilst freight rail transport continued to decrease, down 6.9 per cent in the 3rd quarter of 2012 compared to the same period in the previous the year.

Continuing growth in accommodation and food service activities

Hotels grew by 2.4 per cent and restaurants grew by 6.2 per cent from the 3rd quarter in 2011 to the same quarter in 2012.

Low growth in ICT

After continuous growth through 2011, turnover in the ICT section has stalled. The growth from the 3rd quarter in 2011 to 2012 was 1.5 per cent.

Preliminary figures

Figures for the 3rd quarter are based on data for the month of April. Data for May and June are predicted using historical growth. Consequently, these figures are preliminary and subject to change.
