Continuing good times for hotels

The hotel industry increased turnover by 15.9 per cent in the first quarter 2007 compared with the same quarter previous year. Restaurants also experienced a solid growth, up 11.2 per cent from the same period the year before.

Turnover in land transport activities rose by 5 per cent in the first quarter in 2007 compared with the same quarter the year before. Both transport via railways and other land transport increased by 11 per cent, while transport via pipelines dropped by 11.2 per cent.

Upturn in post and telecommunications

The telecommunications industry increased turnover by 5.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2007 compared with the same period in 2006. Post and courier activities grew by 6.7 per cent over the same period.

Figures for 1s t quarter are based on data for January and February 2007. Because of this, figures are vulnerable for change.
