Large increase in road toll costs

Increased road toll costs, higher diesel prices and rising administration costs made lorry operations more expensive last month. A decline in capital costs partly offset the cost increase.

Cost index for road goods transport, by vehicle group. July 2007-July 2008

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 1.8 per cent from June to July 2008, mainly due to the introduction of a new tariff system for road tolls in Oslo and a considerable rise in diesel prices. Over the last 12 months the total costs for road goods transport have increased by 11.5 per cent.

Increased diesel prices

Rising crude oil prices resulted in a 3.0 per cent increase in the fuel index from June to July this year. From July 2007 to July 2008 this sub-index has increased by 33.1 per cent.
