Continued increase in diesel prices

The tyre index increased by 1.8 per cent the last month. Over the last 12 months this sub-index has grown by 3.7 per cent.

Increased capital costs

In June the index for capital costs increased by 0.1 per cent, mainly due to a increase in real interests rates. Over the last 12 months this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fees, has increased by 8.0 per cent.

New basis for calculation of wages and social costs

From June 2008, the sub-indices for wages and social costs are based on a new index for labour costs in enterprises connected to the road goods transport industry. The new labour cost index measures changes in agreed salaries and social costs (including labour tax etc.) for normal working hours for full time and part time employees in the transport companies. Overtime payments, bonuses and similar compensations are not included. This change in the basis of the calculations does not influence the level of the sub indices for wages and social costs in the transition month. The new labour cost index is described more detailed in About the statistics .
