Continued increase in diesel prices

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 1.1 per cent from February 2008 to March 2008. Over the last 12 months, the total costs have increased by 7.9 per cent.

The fuel index increased by 5.1 per cent during the last month. From March 2007 to March 2008, this sub-index has increased by 21.8 per cent.

In March, the index for capital costs increased by 1.2 per cent, mainly due to an increase in interests rates. Over the last 12 months, this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fees, has increased by 6.2 per cent.

There were no or few changes in the other sub-indices in March.
