Increase in transport costs

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.4 per cent from July 2006 to August 2006. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 3.7 per cent.

The sub-index for repair and service costs increased by 2.3 per cent from July to August. In the last 12 months this index has increased by 4.5 per cent.

Lower diesel prices

The fuel index has decreased by 1.5 per cent for the last month. From August 2005 to August 2006 this sub-index has increased by 5.4 per cent.

Increase in wages and social costs

The wage index has increased by 1.0 per cent during the last month. Over the last 12 months this index increased by 2.9 per cent.

The other sub-indices show no or minor change over the last month.
