Norwegians stay more at hotels

There was an increase in guest nights at hotels in Norway in November last year compared to the year before. There was particularly an increase in Norwegian guest nights at hotels.

The accommodation statistics registered almost 2 million guest nights at accommodation establishments in Norway in November 2019. This was an increase of 7.1 per cent compared to November 2018.

More guest nights at hotels

During last years month of November, there were 1.8 million guest nights at Norwegians hotels. This accounts to an increase of guest nights by 7.5 per cent, compared to the same month in 2018. Guest nights associated with holidays increased by 18 per cent, while the ones linked to conferences declined.

Unchanged guest nights at camping sites

There was a total of 119 000 guest nights at camping sites in November last year. Norwegian guest nights increased by 2.2 per cent from November 2018, while foreign ones declined by 18 per cent.

Increased guest nights in holiday dwellings

  • Norwegian guest nights increased by 14 per cent
  • Foreign guest nights increased 19 per cent

 Fewer guest nights in Svalbard

  • 5 900 guest nights in November 2019
  • Decline of 16 per cent compared to November 2018
  • Norwegian guest nights declined by 35 per cent
  • Foreign guest nights increased by 51 per cent
