Minor increase in guest nights

The Accommodation statistics indicate that there were 1.85 million guest nights registered in accommodation establishments in November 2018. This yields a 1 per cent increase compared to November the previous year.

Fewer foreign guest nights

In total, the number of Norwegian guest nights increased by 1.9 per cent, while the foreign decreased by 3.2 per cent. The guest nights from USA, Portugal and Italy contributed strongest to the increase, while the guest nights from Great Britan, Sweden and Asia had the greatest decrease.

Svalbard still increases

Guest nights in Svalbard increased by 28 per cent compared to the same month the year before. This is a continuous trend, where there are increasingly more guests nights in hotels in Svalbard, also outside of the traditional tourist season.

Compared to November 5 year ago, the foreign overnight stays was more than tripled and the Norwegian accommodation was almost doubled.

More guest nights at camping sites

• 120 000 guest nights in November 2018
• Norwegian guest nights increased by 21 per cent
• Foregin guest nights increased by 6.1 per cent

Fewer guest nights at holiday dwellings

• 60 000 guest nights in November 2018
• Norwegian guest nights declined by 15 per cent
• Foregin guest nights declined by 18 per cent
