Less guest nights in February

Total guest nights decreased by 2.7 per cent in February 2019 compared to the same month the year before. This is due to decreased guest nights at holiday dwellings.

In accommodation statistics registered 2 million guest nights in February. Guest nights at accommodation establishments declined by 54 000 compared to February the year before, which is mainly due to less Norwegian guests nights.

Unchanged guest nights at hotels

During February, there were 1.6 million guest nights at Norwegian hotels, as in the same month the year before. While Norwegian guest nights at hotels decreased, the foreign ones increased, making the total approximately the same.

Fewer guest nights at holiday dwellings

The guest nights at holiday dwellings decreased by 22 per cent in February this year compared to the same month the year before. Norwegian and foreign guest nights decreased by 26 and 19 per cent.

Decrease at camping sites

  • 129 000 guest nights in February 2019
  • 1.5 per cent decrease since February 2018
  • Norwegian guest nights increased by 0.3 per cent
  • Foreign guest nights declined by 9.9 per cent

Even more to Svalbard

  • 16 000 guest nights in February 2019
  • 20 per cent increase since February 2018
  • Both Norwegian and foreign guest nights increased 20 per cent
