Patient Treatment in the Public Dental Health Service – Basic Data and Key Figures Note: In this table, 1- and 2-year-olds are included in the variables “Under Public Supervision” and “Share Under Public Supervision” (in both the numerator and denominator) for the patient group “Children and Adolescents 3–18 years.” From 2018 onwards, the KPR (Municipal Patient and User Register) has been the source of data on recipients of care services. At the same time as the transition to the new data source, Statistics Norway (SSB) also introduced a new method for extracting the number of persons entitled to free dental health services under the Dental Health Services Act. To be counted as a recipient of home health care services, a person must have received the service for a total of at least 3 months during the year, though not necessarily consecutively. To be counted as a recipient of long-term institutional care, a person must have lived in an institution for a total of at least 3 months during the year, though not necessarily consecutively. From the 2023 reference year onwards, the total number of persons in Group C2 – Elderly, chronically ill, and disabled persons receiving home nursing – is obtained from KOSTRA form 43 and the figures reported to the county authorities by the municipalities. Figures including Group C2 patients for 2023 are therefore not comparable with previous years. Group D young adults aged 21–24 are not included in Group V – Other adult population from the 2023 reference year onwards. Group D young adults aged 25–28 are not included in Group V – Other adult population from the 2025 reference year onwards. The definition of supervision does not include backlog figures for any reference years. For figures where backlog is included in supervision, see the discontinued table: https://www.ssb.no/statbank/table/11961
