The source for public charging points is [the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association (Elbilforeningen)](https://info.nobil.no/om). The figures are not directly comparable with [Table 13227: Public charging points and municipal zero-emission vehicles, 2020 municipal structure, by region, year and contents (M) 2015-2023](https://www.ssb.no/en/statbank/table/13227) due to changes in the municipal structure. Deviations from previous years may occur if operators that have taken over public tenders have not reported data to Nobil. [See list over changes in regional classifications](https://www.ssb.no/offentlig-sektor/kommunekatalog/endringer-i-de-regionale-inndelingene) (in Norwegian).

contents

Electric car per charging point (number)

Calculated based on the number of registered electric cars and the total number of charging points per municipality.

Electric cars (number)

The number of registered electric cars per municipality for the reference year is obtained from [Table 07849: Registered vehicles, by region, statistical variable, and year](https://www.ssb.no/en/statbank/table/07849).

Charging point (number)

The decrease in the number of charging points in Østfold and Trøndelag from 2024 to 2025 is mainly due to a reduction in the number of normal chargers in some municipalities. The decline may partly be related to one or more operators that have taken over operations following a tender process not reporting updated data to Nobil.

Normal charging (number)

Normal charging = 3.6-43 kW.

Fast charging (number)

Fast charging = 50-250 kW.

Lightning charging (number)

Lightning charging = > 300 kW.

Zero-emission vehicles the municipality itself owns (number)

Zero-emission vehicles owned by the municipality refer to passenger cars and vans that use electricity or hydrogen as fuel. Leasing is not included in these figures.

Zero-emission vehicles the municipality itself owns (number)

From 2024 onwards, the statistics also include vehicles registered to municipal subunits, provided that these operate within public administration and governance. Previously, the statistics only included vehicles registered directly to the municipality. As a result of this change, the figures from 2024 onwards are not directly comparable with those published in [Table 13227: Public charging points and municipal zero-emission vehicles, 2020 municipal structure (K) 2015¿2023.](https://www.ssb.no/statbank/table/13227).
