Reason for immigration: The reason for the first immigration, according to the information registered in the registers of the immigration authorities and otherwise as it is possible to derive from various relevant register variables. Unknown reason for immigration: Immigrants from the Nordic countries and immigrants that was resident in Norway before 1990 do not have registered a reason for immigration. The number of non-Nordic citizens with unknown reason for immigration has increased significantly in 2022. The main reason is the lack of registration of the reason for immigration for EEA citizens.
