Operating profit for joint parish councils

Joint parish councils had a positive net operating profit for 2002.

A joint parish council is an elected local council representing the Church of Norway congregation within a municipality

The accounts for the joint parish councils for the 2002 financial year show that operating expenses were NOK 2 190 million, while operating revenues amounted to NOK 2 211 million, an increase of 6 and 7 per cent respectively.

The joint councils increased their investments in fixed assets by NOK 30 million, an increase of nearly 62 per cent compared with 2001.

The 2001 financial year showed a negative difference of NOK eight million between new acquisitions and use of resources. In 2002 the difference showed a negative difference of NOK seven million.

Operating profit was NOK eight million

The net operating profit shows how much of the operating revenues that can be used for investment and provisions for funds.

In 2002 the joint parish councils had a positive net operating profit of NOK eight million. This is an increase from 2001, when the same result showed a negative outcome of six million.

Total assets increased

The balance sheet showed total assets of 4.3 billion, an increase of around 11 per cent from 2001

Working capital decreased from NOK 330 million in 2001 to 329 million last year. A change of working capital is the factor with the greatest effect on liquidity.
