Your answers are valuable
The survey is funded by the Ministry of Finance, and the data will be used for research purposes.
The aim of the survey is to gain a better understanding of young people's knowledge of and attitudes toward the tax system, and how taxes influence work effort. Your answers are equally important whether you feel you have a good or poor understanding of the tax system.
You have received an invitation in Altinn or by post, which includes a link and login information for the survey.
You can also respond by following the link at the top of this page and log in with BankID.
You will be asked about your employment situation, your attitude towards taxes, and your views on various public institutions. You do not need to prepare for the survey. If there are questions you do not wish to answer, you can skip them.
It takes approximately 6 minutes to complete the survey.
30,000 people aged 20 to 35 are randomly selected from the National Population Register to participate. Although the sample is random, each participant is an important representative of a specific group in the Norwegian population.
If you are selected, it is difficult to replace you if you choose not to participate. Participation is voluntary, but your answers are crucial for providing an accurate and reliable picture of knowledge and attitudes toward the tax system among people aged 20 to 35 in Norway.
- Your answers will be used for research. Everyone who handles the data is bound by confidentiality. Researchers will only gain access to de-identified information after applying for it. This means that all directly identifying details (such as personal ID number, name, address, etc.) are removed and replaced with a code that only Statistics Norway (SSB) can access.
- The survey is conducted in accordance with the Statistics Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you have further questions about GDPR, you can send an e-mail to personvernombud@ssb.no or read more here: https://www.ssb.no/en/omssb/personvern.
- By participating, you consent to your answers being linked to information about you, your household, and your parents until 2035 from registers SSB has access to. This includes data from the National Population Register, education data from school owners and the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund, income, wealth, employment, benefits and allowances from the Tax Administration and NAV, immigration data from UDI, and housing information from the household register.
- By participating, you also consent to your answers being linked to data from the Tax Administration’s websites and the proposed trial of a work deduction for young people. This includes your tax card, the information you receive on “My Tax” and related pages, and whether you log in and read information on skatteetaten.no.
- During the first half of 2026, a follow-up survey will be conducted among those who respond, so we might contact you again.
- The data will be available to researchers from March 2026.
- An overview of research projects granted access to the data can be found at https://www.ssb.no/skatteundersokelsen-svar.
- All data will be anonymized by the end of 2035. Before then, you may contact us at any time to request that your answers be deleted.
