Challenges in municipal health and social services
The annual publication of municipal social and health data (named "Hjulet") gives the most recent local figures for health and social services, health conditions and living conditions.
In addition to figures for each municipality, figures for districts in the 31 largest municipalities are also available.
Statistics Norway has been commissioned by the health administration to prepare annual overviews of the municipal health and social sector. The report is published in pamphlets from the Directorate of Health and Social Welfare, and is available on the Directorate's (www.shdir.no/statistikk/sammenligningstallene) home pages.
In addition to the publication of the tables you can find in the paper version, the background figures are as in previous years available on Stastistics Norway`s home pages.
New tables in this year’s edition
There are only minor changes in this years' issue of Hjulet. There are new figures in table 15.3 regarding public residents for people who are drug addicts and also suffer from mental illness. Table 15.2 on cooperation, user based planning etc. in mental health services has been retabulated after being absent in Hjulet for 2005. Table 16, preventive health care, has been expanded with figures on medical controls for 4-year olds and 2-3 year olds. Table 22 on public residents for elderly and disabled persons has been expanded with figures on units which have been customized for wheel chairs.
